Brisbane's Action Slacks fill the indie-pop 'Void' with debut EP.

There’s a swathe of solid indie-pop bubbling in the Brisbane scene right now, and Action Slacks would be one of those acts that have been delivering slick, infectious alternative indie-pop sounds.

80s pop influences have been soaked up by Action Slacks on ‘Voids’ - from the gated reverb snare and rounded kick, through to hints of subtle slap bass, and the waves and waves of synths. It’s all tied together by vocalist Madeleine Thompsons vocals, which could easily be crooning to the big hair, suit jacket and jeans nightclub types.

Brisbane’s Smoking Martha come screaming out of the gate with a blistering, fun new track, ‘Good Girls’.

Like some kind of catchy Crüe-esque-meets-Divinyls hybrid, vocalist Tasha D delivers attitude and mockery in smoky tones, over catchy, fast overdriven sleazy guitar tones that brings flashbacks of late 80s hard rock, while still not sounding dated. It’s nostalgic, but fresh, and hooky as fuck.
