Read MoreSunshine Coast alt-rock drum and bass nerds, Muules offer up their latest and last single before the release of their debut full length album next year. The new single, ‘Divide The Divided’, it seems, has been released with a twist.
A change of pace from previous releases, ‘Divide The Divided’ points out the contradictions in musical tastes and trends in the industry - the struggle of trying to stand out when you're supposed to be fitting in. With strings and synths a-plenty, and an Aussie chorus in the background before the switch is flipped and the track takes a monolithic full alternative rock/grunge turn, ‘Divide The Divided’ will please the musical palette of any fan of 90s and 00s alternative music.

With ‘Drain’s running theme of self-doubt and trying to express your thoughts and feelings in a relationship that has dulled, the music video expresses being physically ‘drained’ by having the band all as silhouettes, and giving an overall cartoon-ish vibe to express the ridiculousness of the situations we find ourselves in.

One of their oldest songs (written back in 2017), the lyrics are somewhat prophetic in bringing to light how the majority of us are feeling while in lockdown/isolation, particularly with the opening lines, ‘Four walls closing in, tightness grips across your chest, irrational feelings, can’t quite put my finger on, not quite doom, but something’s impending’.
