Muules release exclusive download-only epic single, 'Divide The Divided'
Sunshine Coast alt-rock drum and bass nerds, Muules offer up their latest and last single before the release of their debut full length album next year. The new single, ‘Divide The Divided’, it seems, has been released with a twist.
A change of pace from previous releases, ‘Divide The Divided’ points out the contradictions in musical tastes and trends in the industry - the struggle of trying to stand out when you're supposed to be fitting in. With strings and synths a-plenty, and an Aussie chorus in the background before the switch is flipped and the track takes a monolithic full alternative rock/grunge turn, ‘Divide The Divided’ will please the musical palette of any fan of 90s and 00s alternative music.
Not ones for conventionality, the three-piece have made ‘Divide The Divided’ an exclusive release on Bandcamp only, in celebration (and support) of Aus Music Month.
Bassist and Muules producer, Rhys Fox explains the move to make the single a purchasable download only.
“This song (Divide The Divided) holds a special spot for us; it’s a song that has undergone many iterations, and was one of the hardest to put together in the studio. With the ever-increasing rate of music being released, it’s draining (and difficult) for independent artists to put out a song AND make an impact.”
“To make the track an exclusive download only, we feel, adds more value to our art. If fans or those curious really want to listen to the song, they’ll put the effort in, or wait until we release the full album next year.”
What started as a line remembered during a conversation within a dream (the cryptic message from a famous artist to ‘divide the divided’) evolved into a song that shows progressive elements based around a simple riff, and showcases vocalist Nathan Vasey’s diverse melodic delivery, and has become a fan favourite during their live sets.
Purchase/download ‘Divide The Divided’ via Muules’ Bandcamp now, and catch their set supporting Krave at Eleven Dive Bar on November 13.
