Magandjin/Brisbane’s Concrete Surfers have been carving their name into the Australian musical landscape over the past decade, touring the country countless times, supporting major artists, playing highlighted festivals, and now, they have finally released their first ever full-length self-titled album.
Magan-djin/Brisbane’s Lottie McLeod shows off her lighter and more playful side on new single ‘Wednesdays at the Waterloo’ - a song that sprung up organically about losing at pub trivia due to a wordless crush on your teammate. Flipping the script on a regular live music show, Cavaleri explains, “Reliving these experiences on stage is like nothing else. It’s a scary thing putting your heart out there and revisiting some of life’s most sensitive moments in front of a crowd, but when we’re all crying, laughing and blissing out together, it reminds me that beneath it all, we have so much in common. That’s what makes this show feel so profound and cathartic for all.”
In 2026, the Oddworld returns to home soil, with OCEAN GROVE today announcing their Oddworld Underground Australian Tour this August, joined by special guests CANE HILL (USA), who will return to Australia for the first time in a decade this year, as well as DEFICIT and BLINDER.

One of Australia’s best alt rock outfits, Perth’s Sly Withers are travelling the countryside in slaying stages and melting hearts with their distinct brand of emo-tinged Aussie rock, particularly with their latest release, ‘Make My Mind Up’. They hit the well-worn Solbar (Maroochydore) stage on November 14, with supports Phil and the Blanks (making their live debut), and well-hyped (and rightly so) young locals, Speira. We sent Ross Jenkins (aka @founding_photos) to capture all the glory.
BIGSOUND 2025 has come and gone, and through a flurry of showcases, we were able to get our photographer, Ross Jenkins (aka @founding_photos) to try and capture as much as he could on night 3 (Thursday night). Now for those that have been to BIGSOUND, you will know how hard it is to dash between showcases, line-up (particularly for the buzz bands), take in as much as you can, then move on to the next one. So, kudos to Ross for getting in as much of night 3 as humanly possible (catching The Southern River Band, Darcie Haven, Heartline, Rageflower, Sleepazoid, and Ruby Fields).
After more than a decade, five albums, and countless shows across Australia and beyond, HOLY HOLY—comprising producer and composer Oscar Dawson and songwriter and lyricist Timothy Carroll—have announced they are going on hiatus. Completing a massive run of shows through May and June, wrapping up with shows at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall, and Caloundra’s Kings Beach Tavern. Joining HOLY HOLY at the Kings Beach Tavern show was WA artist, Rowena Wise.
The undeniable punk rock machine that is Amyl and The Sniffers can not be stopped. The full-to-the-brim amped up show hit the Sunshine Coast’s The Station on January 30, as part of their Cartoon Darkness World Tour (which frankly, has an insane amount of dates). We sent Ross Jenkins (aka @founding_photos) to capture all the amazing madness, from both Amyl and The Sniffers, and support Bob Vylan.
Australian rock icons, Grinspoon prove there’s plenty left in the tank, taking on a mammoth 4 month ‘whatever, whenever, wherever’ National Tour from September through to December, and as they reached the halfway mark, hitting Brisbane’s The Princess Theatre on October 19, along with Press Club and Ixaras, we sent photographer Ross Jenkins (aka @founding_photos) to capture all the love, sweat and beers.
They’ve been ones to watch in our books for a little while now, and Brisbane/Meanjin grunge/alt outfit Council Grounds proved why as they celebrated their debut EP with a launch at The Brightside (along with guests Haters, Jane Street, and Tuesday).
