SPEIRA go full throttle fuzz heavy alt rock on latest single, 'HOLE' - announce debut album 'ARKOMAI'

An alt-rock force to reckon with, Brisbane’s SPEIRA have wasted no time in generating heat around their music and impenetrable live chemistry - something that transfers over into the recorded realm as witnessed on their latest single ‘HOLE’.

The group have been building consistently since making their debut last year and with a busy summer ahead, the band excitedly takes their next big step forward with the announcement of their debut album: ARKOMAI. Releasing on Thursday 5 November via Yama Nui Records, the album is a culmination of shared experiences and raw perspectives, delivered through a musical lens that feels vibrant and sincere.

From it, SPEIRA share a taste of their forthcoming studio record, in the bold single ‘HOLE’. Recorded with ARIA winning producer Paulie Bromley (george, The Beautiful Girls), at the beautiful Yama Nui Studios on the Sunshine Coast, the group was able to lock in and explore their creative chemistry in a way that has brought them closer together as a unit.

As the band describes of ‘HOLE’, “Beneath the instrumental uplifting energy, lyrically, ‘HOLE’ dives into the darkness behind the smile - the pain, isolation and hidden struggles that can exist beneath the smile and surface. As isolating as this feels at the moment, we hope ‘HOLE’ can make listeners feel less alone. You never really know what goes on behind closed doors.” SPEIRA

SPEIRA are one of those rare acts able to replicate the energy and intensity of their live shows in the studio, as is the case with ‘HOLE’. Fast becoming an alt-rock tornado in the SE Queensland scene, ‘HOLE’ is a whirlwind of fuzzed-out riffage, relentless beats and Coco’s full-throttle rock goddess croon, all culminating in a speaker-warping grunge melange. SPEIRA have done their homework with this one, taking all the sweat, mud and mosh pants of late-’90s alt-rock festivals and distilling it into one of their most melodically frenetic releases yet. Bonus points for bringing back those chunky alt-rock breakdown endings.

Though creating the music was described as a “fulfilling, yet demanding time”, SPEIRA have been immensely grateful for the opportunity to immerse themselves completely in the process.

“We got to truly live and breathe our music and log out. Though, we are all perfectionists when it comes to our art. Working with Paulie is always an absolute blessing, though. I swear he can see straight into my mind. When we all get into the studio together, it feels like pure flow. He is a true wizard.” SPEIRA, COCO SCOTT

Since their inception, SPEIRA have racked up impressive live moments, landing a BIGSOUND showcase in 2025 with Yama Nui, as well as supporting the likes of The Living End, Dune Rats, Cosmic Psychos and more in their debut year. To date, their music has been supported across radio via the likes of 4ZZZ, 2SER, ABC Sunshine Coast, I Heart Radio and more.

Inspired by a sonic palette that includes artists like Deftones, Saosin, Paramore and others, SPEIRA are fast on track to becoming one of Brisbane’s most exciting and formidable rock groups. With the release of ARKOMAI, they are set to cement their place.

‘HOLE’ is out now on all streaming platforms, while SPEIRA’s debut album, ‘ARKOMAI’ drops on November 5.
