POLYBIUS return with an indie-funk switch up on latest single, 'Feel Your Love'
Sydney’s POLYBIUS return with their ridiculously danceable new single, ‘Feel Your Love’, which sees the pop-rock traded for a more indie-funk vibe, packed with bittersweet high-energy, capturing the rush of going back to someone you know isn’t good for you.
Driven by guitar, strong vocal hooks and an irresistible chorus, ‘Feel Your Love’ balances emotion with a danceable indie-rock energy. It's a song about the pull of a past relationship, the one that's meant to be over, yet somehow always finds its way back into your life. Whether it's an ex or someone who never really left your heart, it's about giving in one more time, even when you know how it will end.
POLYBIUS have injected a healthy dose of late-night funk into their prog-indie stylings on ‘Feel Your Love’, trading some of their usual guitar-driven weight for a groove that’s considerably harder to sit still to. Technical musicianship remains firmly in the mix, but here it comes wrapped in a slicker, more playful package, with front-woman Tamzin confidently letting loose over the top.
It’s a welcome left turn from previous releases like ‘Hideaway’ and ‘Get Even’, giving POLYBIUS a little more room to stretch their legs — and giving listeners a very good reason to move theirs. ‘Feel Your Love’ is POLYBIUS at their most playful, without sacrificing their technical edge. With the Australian indie-funk space still feeling surprisingly underpopulated, POLYBIUS may have just found themselves a rather comfortable patch of real estate.
Building from a catchy guitar riff into a huge chorus, ‘Feel Your Love’ showcases POLYBIUS' evolving sound. Following the release of their debut EP ‘After Hours’, the band have found a new level of confidence, embracing bigger guitars, stronger melodies and a live energy that's become central to who they are.
Lead vocalist and co-writer Tamzin Donovan says:
“'Feel Your Love' is about that one person you just can't seem to let go of. Even though you know it's over, you keep saying, 'What's one more night, right?' It's about chasing that familiar feeling, even when you know it's only going to end the same way. When we wrote it, though, we didn't want it to sound like your typical breakup song. We wanted to hide that bittersweet feeling inside something fun, upbeat, and almost disguised as a love song. It's got this big, poppy energy that makes you want to dance, but if you listen to the lyrics, there's a much deeper story underneath.”
Blending indie rock, pop and alternative influences, POLYBIUS continue to create a sound built around big choruses, driving guitars and emotionally charged songwriting. ‘Feel Your Love’ marks a new era for the Sydney four-piece, combining everything they've learned from their debut EP into their strongest and most confident release to date.
