Big Blue Eyes return with emotional, cathartic indie rock single, 'Caves Beach'
Brisbane-based Big Blue Eyes unleashes their latest heartfelt single, 'Caves Beach', an emotional blend of melancholy and infectious hooks. This emotional tribute is dedicated to the memory of frontman Ryan Smart's late friend Rhys, as he candidly navigates the complexities of loss and grief.
The new single sees Ryan balances sorrow with celebration, crafting a stirring track that honours the pain of losing a loved one while finding solace in the beauty of cherished memories.
In ‘Caves Beach’ Big Blue Eyes crams all the grief, and memories into a jar, along with smattering of sunny chords, shaken, and lets waves of bittersweet indie rock wash all over in a cathartic celebration of a lost friend. It’s a fine balance between the melancholic lyricism and upbeat rhythms, with a sprinkling of keys to tie it in, all coming to an epic conclusion in the song’s coda; a celebratory exhale after an already emotional outpouring throughout the track.
This latest single shifts gears from the high-energy rhythms of its predecessor ‘New World Age’, instead delivering a more emotionally charged and introspective listening experience. The single's energetic instrumental still pulses with intensity, but this time they're tempered by frontman Ryan Smart's heartfelt, soul-baring lyrics.
"Caves Beach is a very personal song for me," says Smart. “It’s been a favourite of the live set for a few years paying tribute to Rhys, and it’s very special to finally release this track in it's finished state. I drew a lot of inspiration from songs that blend tough subjects with upbeat instrumentals. I love the idea of presenting emotional experiences backed by a sound that can uplift the listener”
Driven by a passion for crafting songs that resonate deeply, Ryan founded Big Blue Eyes to bring his DIY recordings to life. His distinctive songwriting style is marked by nostalgic chord progressions, poignant lyrics, and emotive vocals that forge a powerful connection with listeners.
‘Caves Beach’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
