CBAA's AMRAP: the Australian Music Radio Airplay Project amrap.org.au is proud to announce the Sounds Like Community Radio lineup at Brisbane's 4ZZZFM. Dedicated to showcasing the dynamic world of community radio for everyone from seasoned enthusiasts to curious newcomers, 2025 celebrates 4ZZZFM's 50th year of broadcasting.

On Wednesday, September 3rd, from 1 PM to 6 PM, join fellow presenters, volunteers, producers, community members, music lovers, and artists at 4ZZZFM for a celebration of the tireless dedication and impact on our vibrant national music scenes. Hosted by CBAA’s AMRAP, 4ZZZFM, Triple R, PBS 106.7FM, Three D Radio, Edge Radio, and 2SER 107.3, the Brisbane radio station will open its doors to Studio 3 and the Carpark to broadcast live music from beloved Australian artists, including Platonic Sex, Roger Knox, Last Quokka, Charlie Needs Braces, IJALE, and BADASSMUTHA, sharing unique stories and captivating live sets.

Meanjin’s Hometown Heroes, Platonic Sex, known for their rock aesthetic and folk storytelling, will charm audiences with guitar-driven melodies that resonate with the joys and tragedies of their twenties and beyond. Respected First Nations musician Roger Knox will bring his songs and powerful messages of survival, resilience, love, hope, and healing, reflecting his commitment to reconciliation. Perth punk band Last Quokka is set to deliver a high-energy performance in the 4ZZZ carpark, showcasing their poignant, dance-inducing punk. Expect socially conscious lyrics, heavy rhythms, and catchy guitar riffs.

Rounding out the afternoon are proud GuriNgai women, Charlie and Miri Woods, known as Charlie Needs Braces, who bring uplifting music, weaving stories, language, and harmonies, Nigerian-Australian artist IJALE, with his blend of hip hop, afrobeat, and alternative soul, and BADASSMUTHA, a Githabul, Migunberri-Yugumbeh, and Gamilaroi artist. She has topped charts, played sold-out shows, supported Miss Kaninna, and performed at the Sydney Opera House and Glastonbury and will bring her big raw energy to the Sounds Like Community Radio carpark stage!

Community radio stations are crucial cultural centres, dedicated to showcasing local artists, and their eclectic listening experience is driven by a passion for discovery and a diverse range of genres. This dedication fuels Australia's community airwaves, reaching a loyal audience of 5.38 million weekly listeners nationally across more than 450 licensed stations nationwide, demonstrating a strong demand for supporting Australian music.

AMRAP will host events as part of BIGSOUND commencing on Wednesday 3 September with the Conversation Corner, a casual catch up at Brewdog in Fortitude Valley with the team from CBAA who will be on hand to answer all those burning questions about how to make a mark with your music on the huge network of stations across the country and show you around some of the features on amrap.org.au including The Australian Music Radio Airplay Project which offers free access for Australian musicians, labels, and music businesses to generate airplay opportunities.

Due to popular demand, the BIGSOUND Listening Sessions are back on Thursday 4 September at The Warrar Room at The Precinct. This is your chance to meet the individuals from some of Australia's most beloved community radio stations and receive valuable feedback and best practices on how to get your music heard on community radio. Connect with Firas Massouh from PBS 106.7FM (Melbourne), Simon Winkler & Sam Cummins from Triple R (Melbourne), Cassidy Burke at 4ZZZ FM (Brisbane), Lachlan Holland from 2SER (Sydney), Aeron Clark from Edge Radio (Hobart) and Tiff Stodart & Georgina Oatley from Three D Radio (Adelaide).
