Read MoreGold Coast’s Wandering Blind have brought forth a follow up to last year’s debut single, ‘Candidate’ with sophomore single, ‘Oh Well’ - a slice of danceable, overcast pop.
‘Oh Well’ whether it knows it or not, has its roots deep in 80s New Wave and early emo/goth (think The Cure in their ‘The Head On the Door’ phase). With a stripped-back live arrangement (Wandering Blind are a two-piece), in the studio, they’ve taken on extra instrumentation to thicken out the layers

‘Sentimental Surgery’ is a slight flip on the sounds RedHook have forged with the acclaimed EP, ‘Bad Decisions’, with a more-lighthearted touch and pop-flourishes to their alternative rock tones. Vocalist Emmy Mack playfully bounces around the melody, and the drums, though having that full modern heavy rock tone, has a cheeky 80s gated-reverb snare to add some slight, fun cheesy touches.

It’s lo-fi indie-tinged emo with layers of bright and at times, lush guitars, drums that are not over-processed, and happy-sounding melancholic vocals. Underneath, there’s a big, bold rockier track that tries to poke its head out at certain points, but the band keep it restrained and contained within their own sonic framework.
