Newcastle's Horby pours heart out in catchy new emo-tinged pop single, 'Balconies'
Newcastle pop artist Horby follows up on his debut single, ‘Sing Like Hell’ with the super-catchy new track, ‘Balconies’ which is out now.
Horby effortlessly combines a variety of genres to create his unique and catchy brand of Pop music. Mike Horbacz (Horby) has been playing music for years and has amassed a small yet dedicated following from performing countless shows across the country.
Reminiscent of emo-tinged alt-pop of the mid-00’s, ‘Balconies’ utilises every inch of Horby’s vocal range and delivery. This track is slick, using heavy pop production, and putting 110% behind the chorus hook, giving it the full FM radio-ready treatment. There’s enough cleverly-layered sonic textures to keep the audiophiles happy, from the panned guitars weaving in and out, to the pop finger clicks, and extra vocal harmonies. Honestly, if they’d added an extra bit of crunch to the guitars, and upped the tempo a notch, it could pass as a Jimmy Eat World track.
Horby explains that ‘Balconies’ comes across as a bit of a tragic love song.
“About those times when you think you’re in love but are too lost in it to see how it looks from the outside. I’ve been there a few times in my life and for me, this song takes me right back there,” he said.
Previous single, ‘Sing Like Hell’ secured plenty of positive coverage from online street press, and was aired on over 100 radio stations worldwide, with ‘Balconies’ now set to follow in its footsteps.
If you're a newcomer to Horby, you'll realise within moments of hearing his sonic that he is a musical force to be reckoned with. His voice soars, that's standard. His melodies are committed to memory immediately, but that's what we've come to expect from this powerhouse.
‘Balconies’ is available on all major online stores and streaming services.
