PREMIERE - GRUB deliver on vitriolic hard punk single, 'Pulling Teeth'

Newcastle’s GRUB pour their blend of hardcore, punk and alt rock all over their blistering new single, ‘Pulling Teeth’, which is premiering on The Point ahead of its July 5 release.

The new single (and music video) is the first offering and title track from GRUB’s upcoming EP that arrives on August 30.

In ‘Pulling Teeth’, GRUB bring a crossbreed of Turnstile’s punkier hardcore with the rawer ‘Bleach’-era Nirvana tones. Jagged, buzzy bass and guitars menacingly riffing over frenetic beats which slip in and out of nasty grooves provide the backbone over pure, spat out shouty vocals. ‘Pulling Teeth’ is less bratty punk, and more vitriolic crunch.

Speaking on the goings on of the track, the band say that it covers the topic of those who fail to live up to expectations.

“Pulling Teeth was written out of frustration, it's directed towards people who say they have your best intentions at heart but will never act on their words.”

“The idea for the song came after listening to a handful of people talk about the same issues day after day, with nothing ever actually changing. We had the idea to do a green screen music video ages ago and we wanted the visuals to be as chaotic as the song, and our amazing videographer Alyssa pulled it off way better than we could've ever imagined."

GRUB draw inspiration from Rock, Punk and Alternative genres and blend them together, creating a unique brand of filth. Combine that with a live show that has been described as “a maelstrom of blistering energy, all serrated edges and teeth” and you have yourself an experience that you won’t forget.

Since their inception in 2020, Grub have cemented themselves as a mainstay in the Newcastle music scene, building a loyal grassroots following through the live music community. These connections have landed them supporting slots on bills with Loser, Mac the Knife and Private Function, as well as several local festivals.

New single ‘Pulling Teeth’ is available on all major online stores and streaming services from July 5.
