A new breed of youthful alternative pop is brewing in Brisbane, with FELONY. releasing her brand new track, her second single, ‘Bag of Youth’.

The QMA-nominated (Youth Artist) FELONY. puts together a track that is brimming with strained sarcasm, fear, and the need to be heard.

‘Bag of Youth’ is unadulterated spiky alt pop, poured straight from dissatisfied youth. It’s a pocket rocket of a track that is propelled by pulsing drums, a backpack full of synths, and fiercely strummed guitars, lubricated by FELONY.’s sweetly-wrapped barbed vocals. The track blows you a kiss while flipping you the bird - you’re unsure whether to innocently bounce along, or embrace your inner anarchist, and that’s the whole point. Teenage rebellion is both confusing and fun as fuck.

Not only does the track scream ‘help’ from the mouths of today’s younger generations, but Bag of Youth is also a crucial step in sculpting the FELONY universe. With soaring anthemic synths and the pure driving force of the drums commanding this next era into action.

‘Releasing this track is a big deal to me, I’m really trying to solidify the idea that we are all together in this super confusing half-internet-half-real world. While the chorus “we’re all the same, but your hair is so different to mine. If you wanna piss on a peace sign or give me a good time – I don’t mind” screams hopelessness and is a real reach for help.’ –FELONY.

Having made her debut in 2022 (previously under the name LAYYLA), FELONY. impressed with her first single, ‘Anything to Feel Anything’, earning a spot in the Triple J Unearthed High Yearbook, as well as making it into the 2023 Queensland Music Awards as a finalist in the Youth category, not to mention a national tour support slot for Selfish Sons.

FELONY. ensures us that this is ‘just the beginning’ of what seems to be a long, exciting journey of catchy melodies and unapologetic lyrics to soundtrack all our lives.

‘Bag of Youth’ is out now via all streaming platforms.
