PREMIERE - Gold Coast genre-bender Satellite Mile delivers dark goth wave journey in new single, 'The Water's Edge'
Gold Coast genre-bender, Satellite Mile gives another taste of their to-be-released full length album in latest cyber-tinged dreamscape, ‘The Water’s Edge’, which is premiering on The Point Music News ahead of its April 11 release.
It’s a flood of atmospheric guitars and analogue synthesisers which weave around a relentless pulse before hurtling toward the inevitable climatic conclusion.
Imagined into existence by Ben Love, with production by Love and Peet Gardner at Brisbane’s So Soap Studios, the latest single clearly draws influence from luminaries Depeche Mode, Peter Gabriel and Massive Attack, forging soundscapes that unfold in multi-faceted compositions. ‘The Water’s Edge’ was handed over to the legendary Paul Gomersall (Kate Bush, Genesis, George Michael) for mixing duties.
‘The Water’s Edge’ dives deep into a brooding, synth-soaked dreamscape, where industrial edges meet cinematic sweep. Imagine Nine Inch Nails' grit colliding with the ghostly elegance of Depeche Mode, all stirred through the sonic alchemy of early Peter Gabriel. Ben Love’s vocal delivery channels shades of Dave Gahan and Gary Numan—dark, poised, and just on the verge of unraveling.
The track pulses with nervous energy—beats shuffle like machinery with a soul, while deep bass lines rumble like distant thunder. Layers of synth swirl in and out like neon smoke, painting ribbons of black and blue across a soundscape that feels both futuristic and primal. ‘The Water’s Edge’ isn’t just a song—it’s a fever dream dressed in circuitry.
‘The Water’s Edge’ is the second single to come from the debut album of the same name, blending atmospheric guitar motifs, analogue synthesisers and shifting time signatures with haunting vocals, weaving a non-linear journey through time and space.
The latest single from Satellite Mile is premiering right now on The Point Music News, with ‘The Water’s Edge’ being available on all streaming platforms from April 11.
