Alvy Willa goes in to deep 80s nostalgia with new single, 'Untangle'

Sunshine Coast songwriter/producer Alvy Willa returns with another new, dazzling single in ‘Untangle’, which is out now.

Teaming up with Christian Patey, Alvy Willa (aka Jayke Barnes) takes in 80s tones to provide an uplifting score with a bonus saxophone solo.

Saturated in synths, ‘Untangle’ is an electric sunrise, with the deep pulsing bass, layers of synth textures, with the treble dialled up on the drum machine to balance the deeper tones, and Jayke’s vocals drenched in heavy reverb. Rich, acoustic guitar highlights, and the sax solo from Tahana Brickz give an organic touch to the synthetic tones. Dripping in nostalgic sounds, ‘Untangle’ is sensual and elevating.

Of the track, Jayke explains it is about moving from a dark place in to the light.

‘It’s about taking someone you care about out of a toxic environment, and allowing all the problems to untangle by just being around a more uplifting environment,’ he said.

Regular collaborator (and fellow songwriter) Calan Mai contributed to the songwriting in the verses, adding to the already collaborative efforts, and making for an enjoyable writing experience for Alvy Willa.

Alvy Willa’s ‘Untangle’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
