PREMIERE - Christian Patey returns with warm, lush new single that warns of relying on social media for self-worth on 'Don't Follow The Internet'

Singer/Songwriter/producer Christian Patey returns with his latest single that ticks all the boxes for lovers of Bon Iver or The National. ‘Don’t Follow The Internet’ is a song written for the over-thinkers, becoming a reminder not to rely on the internet for self-worth.

The track taps in hard on the theme of seeing the talent and beauty in someone, when they can’t see it for themselves.

‘Don’t Follow The Internet’ was recorded at Tiny House Records on the Sunshine Coast with help from Harry Fox co-writing. This is Christian’s second single off his up and coming acoustic EP, due early 2025.

On ‘Don’t Follow The Internet’, Christian Patey masterfully bridges his folk-songwriter roots with the polished pop sensibilities honed through years of production. Warm, enveloping keys and pads lay the foundation, while a softened kick pulses beneath, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. Organic textures shine through—the rich resonance of acoustic guitar, the sincerity of his vocal delivery, and harmonies that glide effortlessly. But at its heart, a delicate, delay-soaked three-note arpeggio weaves in and out, subtly anchoring the track. It’s a giant musical hug, a reminder that behind the curated perfection of social media, reality is far more human.

Christian Patey produces and plays alternative/pop music, having supported Boo Seeka, Thundmentals, Tash Sultana,Tora and Noah Slee, with sold-out shows and Triple J plays to follow. Christian has worked with Jimmy2sox (one half of Flight Facilities). Landed a vocal sample on Rae Sremmurds album Sr3mm alongside (The Weeknd, Pharrell, Travis Scott) also worked on PARTYNEXTDOOR'S album PX3 with credits alongside Drake.
