Brisbane's KAMI sets up a 'RENDEZVOUS' with captivating orchestral pop single
Brisbane-based singer, songwriter and producer Koby Mita, aka KAMI has unveiled his newest single, ‘RENDEZVOUS’, which furthers his expansion into the realm of orchestral pop.
The latest rack sees KAMI mastering his signature orchestral pop roots, capturing the mainstream media sound while expressing deep messages about fear of attachment and young-adult naiveties.
‘RENDEZVOUS’is dramatic, cinematic pop, striking you down with the first deep chord. The blending of breakbeat, adding some unexpected bounce to the string composition, and the full RnB/Soul vocal stylings from KAMI make for an intriguing, unique, and fresh listening experience. Think Tchaikovsky with a little 90s hip hop, and a sprinkle of Daniel Beddingfield, and you’d be close to the mark.
After reflecting on past experiences and doing some deep interpersonal reflecting, KAMI uses ‘RENDEZVOUS’ as a tribute to forgiving his younger self's nativity. As he realises, his unfulfillment as a young adult descends into an avoidant attachment style, which leads him to experiences regarding hook-up culture and filling the ‘endless’ void with people. Collaborating with Brisbane producer Ryan Gordon, KAMI hides these deeply reflective lyrics, and thanks to the orchestral pop sound and cinematic atmosphere the song creates a diverse sentiment.
At just 22 years old, KAMI has already significantly impacted the Brisbane music scene with his introspective and intimate compositions, with his musical style being a reflection of his innermost thoughts and emotions.
From humble GarageBand experiments to grandiose soundscapes, KAMI's music is characterised by lush strings and choir arrangements.
