Darcy Kate and Drew Wilson team up for brilliantly catchy alt-country pop single, 'Let It Out'

Sunshine Coast singer/songwriter Darcy Kate has teamed up with guitar-pop maestro, Drew Wilson to bring together a brilliantly catchy blending of folk/country and pop in the new single, ‘Let It Out’, which is out now.

The latest single is the highly anticipated follow-up for Darcy’s 2022 imagery-filled debut album, ‘Wanderer’, as well as follow-up to Drew Wilson’s 2022 LP, ‘Happy Mess’. The former included a wildly successful single in ‘Dorothy’, as well as earning a Queensland Music Awards nomination (Blues and Roots song category) for ‘Blue Cascade’.

Darcy Kate takes her alt-country/folk stylings, blending brilliantly with Drew Wilson’s Mayer-ish guitar-pop for one hell of a radio-friendly track. The pacing of ‘Let It Out’, with the bass and drums locked into a steadfast pocket groove, matches the overall them of encouraging the listener to take their time in matters of love and life. With light guitar-noodling, soft pads, and Drew Wilson’s vocal countering Darcy’s country-pop delivery (with a hint of twang that creeps in during the choruses), ‘Let It Out’ is such an easy track to take in, and get stuck into your grey matter.

‘Let It Out’ was written by Drew Wilson and recorded and produced by Craig Ross (Roomuzik), with that combination carving an instantly catchy folk-pop bop that focuses on the need to sometimes slow down the process of falling in love down.

Darcy burgers the listener to ‘slow down’ to make it last, to make sure that things aren’t taken for granted or rushed into too quickly, with there vocals becoming the main attraction, telling a deeper story beyond just the lyrics and melody.

Darcy Kate will be supporting this single (and her next single) with a run of shows across Queensland and northern NSW leading into October.

‘Let It Out’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
