Read MoreIn the lead up to the release of their debut album later this month, Sydney’s fuzzed-out post-punk trio, oWo have offered-up the first single (and title track), ‘Super Role Model’.
‘Super Role Model’ is a scuzzy, fuzzed-out swagger, with a bass line that sounds like it’s looking for a fight. The drums have a slacker feel, but aggressively so, and the panned, delayed guitar adds plenty of eerie menace to the track. It’s the vocals, with hardly any effort, that give ‘Super Role Model’ the who-gives-a-fuck vibe. It’s a sound that used to be at the forefront of Australian Alt Rock in the 90s, and it deserves a comeback to the fold.

Read MoreAdelaide metalcore legends, The Daily Chase mark their return with a hefty new single, ‘Lotusland’, which also is the first taste of their forthcoming EP, ‘The Colour of Crisis’.
‘Lotusland’ adopts synth and drum’n’bass in to their sound, before hitting with an ominous riff and face-melting screams from vocalist Rory Cuthell. There’s elements of nu-metal sneaking in with pitch-shifted vocals, creepy keys, and one hell of a fat groove, before a dirty breakdown sledgehammers its way in to the track. It’s dark, menacing and brings the devil horns straight up.
Read MoreSydney five-piece indie outfit, Buffalo Paradise suck in all the summery surf rock vibes, wrap them in a neat package, and serve them up as their sophomore single, ‘Promises’.
‘Promises’ has this weird blend of 80s-era Mental As Anything-meets-The Kooks sound happening; it manages to sound current (like a lot of vibing surf-indie-rock) while simultaneously sounding nostalgically Australian. It’s a sunset soundtrack on the beach, with bright guitars, smooth bass, pop drums, and organs coming together to lay the bed for the accent-blending vocal delivery that just works.
Read MoreThere’s been a lot of buzz building in the metal community over Perth metalcore outfit, Patient Sixty-Seven, and they’re backing up this hype with brand new single, ‘Scattered’.
‘Scattered’ hits hard straight away, with vocalist Tom Kiely purging so much aggression and emotion from the get-go, while shifting in to a more melodic mode for the chorus. The riffing bounces between gut-punches to intricate soaring, with bigger breakdowns than a crypto-bro defending Bitcoin.

Read MoreNewcastle’s deathcore outfit, The Wandering has marked their return with a heaving slab of heaviness in the form of new single, ‘A Beautiful Agony’, and accompanying music video.
‘A Beautiful Agony’ is three and a half minutes of unrelenting brutality, from frenetic blast beats and schizophrenic riffing, through to some of the lowest, guttural death growls, the track forces its way hectically, while teasing the forthcoming climax with sneaky breakdown a third of the way through. It still does not brace you for the filthiest, lowest of breakdowns towards to the end.
