Sydney’s POLYBIUS blur the lines between indie pop-rock and alt rock, leaning hard into the latter on their powerful new single, ‘Get Even’ - a track that transforms anger, heartbreak, and frustration into something louder, sharper, and ultimately liberating.

Hitting hard first up with an explosive guitar riff, leading into some emotionally charged vocals , 'Get Even' captures the moment where pain turns into power. Blending grit, melody and intensity, the single leans into the band’s love of guitar-led songwriting while pushing their sound into heavier, more anthemic territory.

‘Get Even’ hits hard from the outset, with POLYBIUS locking crunchy riffs and thick, fuzz-laden bass into a groove that nods to the Origin of Symmetry era of Muse. Underneath it all, punchy, grunge-leaning drums drive the track forward, with a snare crack that lands like a gunshot, cutting clean through the mix. Vocalist Tamzin channels a cool, controlled menace reminiscent of Shirley Manson, adding bite to an already charged performance.

Blurring the lines between alternative and progressive rock, ‘Get Even’ simmers with grit, vengeance and intent, building tension as it unfolds. It’s a hyper-charged, femme-fatale groove that rewards repeat listens, revealing more weight and intensity the deeper you dive.

At its core, 'Get Even' is not just a revenge song; it is a reclaiming of self. Rather than dwelling in bitterness, the track channels the feeling of being wronged into something stronger: the decision to move on, rise above and come out better on the other side.

Lead vocalist and co-writer Tamzin Donovan explains:

'Get Even' is definitely a revenge song. It’s fuelled by anger and heartbreak - that fiery moment when you realise you’re actually okay on your own and don’t need anyone else. I wanted it to feel relatable, like the kind of song you can scream at the top of your lungs. A way to channel your anger, release it, and let everything out.

It’s also about getting even without sinking to a low level. Instead of revenge that drags you down, it’s about rising above it, becoming better, stronger, and happier. The real 'getting even' is living well, moving forward, and becoming someone they end up missing.’

Musically, the track was born from a love of heavy yet melodic guitar-driven songs, balancing punch and atmosphere with the kind of immediacy that hits just as hard live as it does on record.

With influences sitting between pop and rock, POLYBIUS continue to build a reputation for writing songs designed to connect in a room with big choruses, dynamic guitar work and a strong emotional core.  'Get Even' builds on that identity, offering listeners both a release and a rallying cry.

Following the release of their debut single 'Hideaway', 'Get Even' marks the next step forward for the band as they continue to build momentum ahead of more music to come.

'Get Even' is out now on all major streaming platforms.
