Brisbane's In Constance savour every moment on ethereal alt rock debut EP, 'Live Everything'

Bringing immersive, ethereal alt-rock to the forefront, Brisbane alt-rock outfit In Constance have released their debut EP, ‘Live Everything’, a collection of songs packed full of shimmering motifs, driving drums and hook-laden vocals.

Spanning seven tracks, ‘Live Everything’ is inspired by guitarist Jordan Bain’s early adolescent experiences navigating the self-destructive behaviours of those closest to him.

Bain recalls: “These were some of the first songs I ever wrote while working through one of the darkest times of my life. I could barely play guitar at the time.” The EP’s title draws inspiration from Rainer Maria Rilke’s ‘Letters to a Young Poet (1929)’, in which he urges a young writer to “live everything, live the questions for now” when confronted with uncertainty.

In Constance drift through a cinematic strain of alternative rock on ‘Live Everything’, favouring dynamic extremes over traditional riff-driven structure. Progressive at its core, the release leans heavily into atmosphere, texture and emotion, shifting between light and dark while reflecting its central theme of embracing the full spectrum of experience.

Key moments across ‘Endings’, debut single ‘Fairytale’ and ‘Hiding’ evoke the dense, dreamlike weight of A Perfect Circle, Gates and Loathe, particularly in the brooding depth of ‘Endings’. ‘Live Everything’ is immersive without being overwhelming — rich in mood and melody, and confident in letting its atmospherics do the heavy lifting.

New to the scene but already turning heads, In Constance have quickly built momentum. Their debut single ‘Fairytale’ earned support from triple j Unearthed, Apple Music’s New in Rock and New in Alternative editorial playlists, alongside airplay on Australian community radio including FBi Radio, 4ZZZ and UCFM. The group has also made an early mark live, packing out Black Bear Lodge in Brisbane supporting Kodiak Empire.

In Constance brings together a lineup of seasoned musicians with a wealth of industry experience. Jordan Bain has toured with Tia Gostelow and contributed his engineering skills to Jaguar Jonze and Hope D. Harry Verity has shared stages with I See Stars and Caligulas Horse, while Dave Smith has toured internationally and performed alongside Story of the Year, Flyleaf, Funeral for a Friend.

‘Live Everything’ is available for streaming right now on all digital platforms.
