Naarm/Melbourne indie trio Left At The Avenue unleash broody new single, 'Wailing'

Naarm/Melbourne-based indie-rock outfit, Left At The Avenue let go bottled-up frustration on the gritty new single, ‘Wailing’, which is out now. Recorded at JMC Recording Studios, the track features an intense, raw blend of indie rock with grungy undertones, expertly mixed by Dan Molad, and mastered by Joe Carra.

This powerful new release captures intense emotion through lyricism and dynamic instrumentation, offering a reflection of the band's personal and artistic struggles.

‘Wailing’ is broody, dark, cascading blues/prog-tinged indie, bottled-up and shaken, with a climatic explosion of emotion, bloodied vocals, pounding beats, and raw fingertips. It’s the indie-rock equivalent to screaming into a deep cave - a cathartic release of frustration that’s let out after holding it all down for too long, then bathing in the aftermath of the echo.

The new single is a testament to the group's ability to channel their experiences into their music. The song delves into themes of frustration, perseverance, and the cathartic release found through songwriting. With its raw energy and heartfelt lyrics, ‘Wailing’ stands out as a deeply personal and impactful track.

"We were suffering from some pretty bad writer's block just before we wrote this one, so to be able to finally get out the pent-up anger from struggling through 2023 and finally release it into 'Wailing,' I feel like you can hear that…at least we do." - NICO DAWE, BASS GUITAR

Left At The Avenue have been no strangers to the live music scene in Victoria over the past few years, gaining a loyal fan base along the way. The band, comprised of lifelong friends Henry Parks, Connor Pawsey, and Nico Dawe, have seen recent success in singles, ‘Minibar’ and ‘Cinnamon’,  which have gone onto amass tens of thousands in streams across all streaming services. With ‘Wailing’, Left At The Avenue look to further the connection with their audience,  by giving them unfiltered, untamed honesty.

"This song’s a reflection of many things in our lives, it’s deeply personal, performing it, even rehearsing it…taps into something within me that no other track has done before." - HENRY PARKS, VOCALIST

Of the songs accompanying visualiser, animator Jade Gallogly has said:

“I felt so connected to the song’s feelings of anxiety, desperation and anger - I tried to channel that into how I drew the scratchy and unkept animations, letting my instinctual reaction to the song take the wheel. I hope others can find pieces of themselves in this song as I have, and I hope the visuals I’ve created help aid in that endeavour” - JADE GALLOGLY, ANIMATOR

Brilliantly brooding, intense indie rock from Left At The Avenue. ‘Wailing’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
