You're In Good Hands with the buoyant indie rock stylings of the debut EP, 'Daylight'

North-West Sydney’s In Good Hands unveil a solid collection of six strong indie-rock tracks, all tied up and presented as their debut EP, ‘Daylight’, which is out now.

The EP, which features previously released singles ‘Lately, ‘Daylight’, ‘Feel This Way’, and How ‘Bout Time?’, largely depicts the battle between youth and growing up.

First emerging onto the scene in 2020, In Good Hands felt the brutal impact of COVID lockdowns on the music scene first hand, with their debut shows being cancelled and pushing the band online. Their drive and motivation however wasn’t deterred, as they spent time honing their sound and writing the songs that would come together for their debut EP.

In Good Hands may present on the outside as bouncy Australian Indie-Rock on the ‘Daylight’ EP, but underneath a whole tonne of sunny tones and optimism, there’s a slight layer of darkness poking through that helps just to give a touch of edge to an otherwise bright sound - think if Jimmy Eat World were in buoyant mood. This is particularly noticed on EP opener, ‘Fly Away’, and the gorgeous duet with Abbey Lane on ‘Spread Thin’. The ‘Daylight’ EP is clean, polished, rich Indie-Rock, but also shows signs of a band that can continue to grow on and push the boundaries musically should they choose to.

This fresh project concisely depicts the band’s circumstances at the time, with songs exploring the themes around wasted youth (‘Lately’, ‘How ‘Bout Time?’), healing relationships (‘Daylight’, ‘Feel This Way’, ‘Spread Thin feat. Abbey Lane’), and hopefulness (‘Fly Away’). As a concise package of the tribulations and juvenility of four young guys dealing with growth, change and healing in their 20s, the EP makes for an impressive premiere of what In Good Hands has to offer.

The ‘Daylight’ EP expands across various Australian indie-rock influences, which is impeccably delivered by the production expertise of George Georgiadis (‘Daylight’, ‘Feel This Way’) and Jack Nigro (‘Lately’, ‘How ‘Bout Time?’, ‘Spread Thin feat Abbey Lane’, ‘Fly Away’). With the songwriting and production process spanning over years, the band express that they are “so proud of this and can’t wait to see how it is received”.

The release comes off the back of a string of well received singles, gaining support from numerous community radio stations (FBI, SYN, 4ZZZ) as well as their local following selling out their headline shows across Sydney (3 Wise Monkeys, Factory Theatre, Hiway Bar). With their upbeat and uplifting singalong melodies and lively instrumentations, their recorded tracks translate perfectly into a danceable live show. In Good Hands will be celebrating the release of their EP in Sydney on May 31st, so make sure to mark your calendars for this one.

The ‘Daylight’ EP is out now on all streaming platforms.
