Brisbane's Lucid Safari create tasty indie psych soup with killer new single, 'Till The End'
Brisbane’s Lucid Safari have only been around a relatively short time, but have already received high praise for their performances and previous releases. They now continue that trend with the dreamy indie-rock single, ‘Till The End’ which is out now.
Having taken out The Sound Garden’s ‘Battle of the Bands’ in October of 2020, followed by performances at the Wynnum Fringe Festival, The Zoo, and The Triffid, playing alongside artists such as Kate Miller-Heidke, Ian Moss, Fat Picnic, and Golden Age of Ballooning, the collective of musicians that form around Lucid Safari’s main songwriter, Dan Lewis have rapidly gained a reputation for bringing the good vibes, immersive grooves and catchy hooks.
The new single, ‘Till The End’ expands on the heavily textured sound that Lucid Safari have established.
‘Till The End’ is awash with dreamy textures, all floating and intertwining with each other to make a tasty indie-psych soup. Main man Dan Lewis’ has pushed Lucid Safari’s sound, stepping up on the bands highly-regarded debut EP, demonstrating with ‘Till The End’ when to apply the brakes to allow for some breathing room, and when to open the gates and let all the delayed guitar noodling, synths, and rolling bass flood your ears. The playful way the guitar and bass break in to a lead break together, without competing, tickles then scratches that itch at the back of your mind. There is a lot happening in this song, but it’s not overwhelming, with each musical puzzle piece interlocking with the other, making for an immersive listen, not a busy one. There’s definitely still some influence from contemporaries Ocean Alley, and Caravana Sun present, however ‘Till The End’ is showing an act that is now really starting to come in to their own.
The new single will surely receive the same praise as Lucid Safari’s previous releases, with their first single, ‘Lady’ gaining rave reviews with online media outlets and community radio, as well as being added to high rotation on US radio station KXFM. Other singles received spins on Double J, and hitting the AMRAP charts earlier this year.
To celebrate the new single, Lucid Safari will be launching it with a free show at Brisbane’s Felons Barrel Hall oN September 2, accompanied by fellow Brisbane talents, Dusty and Ashgroove.
‘Till The End’ is out now on all streaming platforms..
