Grace Amos raises the stakes again with killer new alt-pop rock single, 'BY THE GRACE OF GOD'

Grace Amos, the young Sydney artist that has amassed 100’s of thousands of streams and played to a cool 42,000 people at Suncorp Stadium, has raised the stakes again with a brand new single, ‘BY THE GRACE OF GOD’, which is out now.

‘BY THE GRACE OF GOD’ sees the artist talking to herself, giving a reminder to hold on to her own power, even in the face of all-consuming love.

While previous releases of Grace’s, in particular the dance rock of ‘NOTHING TO SAY’, and the fuzz-heavy waltz of ‘KISS YOU TILL IM SOBER’ blur the lines between late Alanis Morrissette, and the rockier tracks of Miley Cyrus, ‘BY THE GRACE OF GOD’ leans more towards ‘Riot!’-era Paramore, with Grace channelling a younger Hayley Williams on this track. There’s plenty of angst fuelling this track, and as she has shown on the earlier tracks, Grace’s talent far succeeds the age of the artist; Grace makes you feel that chorus, bordering on shredding the vocals, holding back just that little to maintain a little control and smoothness. While utilising cleaner tones on the guitars, ‘BY THE GRACE OF GOD’ maintains that alt-pop rock edge, while letting the music box-like piano melody giving a hint of sweetness.

Grace has given nods to influences such as the modern, angsty Dove Cameron, and Demi Lovato’s latest record ‘Holy Fvck’, to early 2000s punk pop, and Alanis Morrissette’s ‘You Oughta Know’, and ‘BY THE GRACE OF GOD’ show a song by an artist who clearly adores music that rips at its own seams and knows exactly how to pull at an audiences’ emotions in just the right way.

Produced by James K Lewis (Rudimental, OneFour, Meg Mac), the gritty track sees Grace reckoning with her own strength within relationships. Speaking on the inspiration behind the song, she says, “It’s mainly about looking back on previous relationships I’ve shared and how I always put in so much, without really getting the same in return. So I wrote this as a reminder to myself to know what I’m worth, to stop letting people “walk all over me”. I wrote this song for me.”

2022 has been a thrilling ride for Grace Amos. With hundreds of thousands of streams under her belt, she made her festival debut at Valleyways in September, alongside triple j faves The Rubens, Skeggs and Middle Kids. She played a killer set to a crowd of 42,000 people at Suncorp Stadium as part of the match entertainment during footy season.

Anticipation is certainly high for Grace’s debut EP (due early 2023) — giving fans a little hint of what’s to come, Grace shares what inspires her most, “I’m inspired by relationships. I love looking at how people interact with each other and how easy it is to have an impact on someone else’s life.”

‘BY THE GRACE OF GOD’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
