Sydney's Closure pull no punches with epic new post-hardcore single, 'Unravel'
Strengthening their position within the Australian heavy music scene, Sydney post-hardcore outfit, Closure, return with their new single, ‘Unravel’. The track follows on from their previous release, ‘Empty Hands’ - continuing to refine their sound.
Since their 2025 debut EP ‘The Sweet Suffering’, Closure have steadily built momentum through national touring and support slots alongside established acts, earning a reputation for emotionally driven songwriting and high-intensity live performances.
The four-piece have continued to develop their presence across the Australian post-hardcore landscape, balancing aggression, melody, and vulnerability throughout their work.
Closure pull no punches with ’Unravel’, unleashing a wall of distorted beauty and intricate rhythms that echo the spirit of early Alexisonfire, balancing soaring vocal melodies against guttural screams with effortless precision. The energy blasting from this track is enough to power a small city, and even in its comparatively restrained moments, ‘Unravel’ remains dense, crushing and utterly consuming. It's another reminder of just how vibrant and formidable Australia's heavy music scene continues to be.
At its core, ‘Unravel’ explores personal growth amid negativity and stagnation. The track reflects on being surrounded by people unwilling to break destructive cycles or embrace change, while life continues to move forward around them. It speaks to breaking patterns, choosing self-improvement, and maintaining optimism in the face of toxicity. Through honest lyricism and dynamic songwriting, Closure channels frustration into a message of resilience and self-discovery.
Speaking on the release, vocalist Lucy May describes ‘Unravel’ as “a reflection of her own personal growth and a shifting of perspective”, offering a more intimate insight into her journey and the mindset of choosing progress over complacency.
Remaining proudly DIY, Closure continues to handle much of their creative output internally. Guitarist Lachlan Cronin recorded, produced, and mixed “Unravel,” while longtime friend and collaborator Max Pasalic contributed photography and videography. The track was mastered by their dear friend Christopher Vernon.
Driven by frustration and reflection, ‘Unravel’ captures Closure at their most self-assured, marking another significant step forward as the band continue carving out their place within Australia’s post-hardcore landscape.
‘Unravel’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
