Adelaide's Jon Ann usher in new chapter of sound with their ferocious single, 'F With Me'

Adelaide’s Jon Ann flip the switch on their previous efforts, and release a ferociously fun, intense pub punk/grunge single in ‘F With Me’ - a track that captures the feelings of when you have had enough of someone and their bullshit.

Working with ARIA-award winning engineer Anton Hagop (Silverchair) on mixing duties, and George from Little Wing Sound (Smith Street Band, Ruby Fields, Dear Seattle) in charge of mastering, the team-up was able to pull the intensity and volume from Jon Ann into the recorded realm, bringing out the captivating energy from front woman Christie, perfectly balancing the duality of her raw aggressiveness, and vulnerable moments, with the fuzz heavy moments and absolutely pounded drums.

‘F With Me’ channels The Stooges from the get-go, spewing forth overdriven attitude and feedback squeals merging into a blend of punk ruckus and thickened alt rock. The track is a full pivot for Jon Ann, with previous releases being more akin to alt/indie pop, and ‘F With Me’ unleashes what could be bottled up ferocity; it’s the musical equivalent to dropping a whole roll of Mentos into a two-litre bottle of Coke in a very confined place, producing a fizzy violent fun time that unexpectedly clocks you right in the groin. Jon Ann really unleash with this new chapter for the outfit, and they’re leaving us hanging for more fuzzy, fast fun times.

Previously a duo, Jon Ann have transitioned into fully-fledged pub punk/grunge band that has quickly developed a following, become a staple in the Adelaide scene, with ‘F With Me’ earning itself favouritism within the local scene, being screamed by the Adelaide youth who are fed up, and resonate with the track.

If this next chapter for the South Australian act is anything to go by, we’re heavily awaiting the next instalment of Jon Ann.

‘F With Me’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
