PREMIERE - Sydney's Dirt City unleash heaving, heart-wrenching alt-metal/industrial track, 'Barely Human'
Sydney based Alt Metal outfit Dirt City have just released their heart wrenching new single ‘Barely Human’, which premiered exclusively via The Point Music News.
Sydney’s alt-metal/industrial juggernauts, Dirt City return with another heaving track, the heart wrenching new single, ‘Barely Human’, which we are premiering right now on The Point, ahead of it’s March 28th release.
The powerful new single touches on the heartache of losing a child, and how grief coupled with anger turns you into something other than human.
Scratching and scathing, ‘Barely Human’ seethes with thick industrial weight, underpinned by a brooding blues-rock sensibility that fuels its smouldering grief. The track writhes in a swampy groove before detonating midway into a heaving, riff-laden beast—imagine ‘The Amalgamut’-era Filter colliding with the late-'90s intensity of The Tea Party, and you're somewhere in the sonic blast zone. Dirt City once again plants their flag in Australia’s heavy scene, championing an underrepresented industrial edge with the kind of unapologetic force that refuses to be ignored.
The band have also announced that they will playing a launch show at Burdekin Hotel on April 11 alongside Neon Sunset, NLA and The Blistered Minds.
Dirt City employ a synth-heavy, industrial-like futurism to their music rarely found in heavy rock. There are moments of ambience found beneath the drum-heavy breakdowns, thunderous riffage, and melodic vocals that give the listener moments to appreciate the true soul that makes Dirt City’s exposition of alternative metal especially captivating.
The band entered the studio in late 2024 to record a run of new singles set for release over the course of this year. The tracks were produced by Nathan Sheehy (DZ Deathrays, Birds of Tokyo) and mastered by Klaus Hill (PNAU, LDRU).
Dirt City are back again with ‘Barely Human’, premiering now on The Point Music News, and available on all major streaming services from Friday March 28th.
