All-inclusive Outer Space Festival set to launch this month in Gympie

Space Girls Festival is thrilled to announce OUTER SPACE, an exciting and inclusive event taking place at headspace Gympie on Thursday, June 27 from 2pm  to 7pm. This vibrant festival promises a day of live music, celebration, and empowerment, all in honour of Pride Month.

OUTER SPACE will feature a dynamic live music program headlined by the sensational IXARAS. Following her 2023 hit song ‘Sprouts’, IXARAS will be touring her current single ‘Fresh Figure’ which is the first single to be released via her newly launched youth-orientated label Anti Dismal. Raised in Meanjin/Brisbane, the 16 year-old has quickly become known for her melodic ear-worms and as a champion of authenticity and inclusivity, cementing herself as a beacon of youth culture.

Ella Fence hits the stage with her band, an artist who is not afraid to challenge the status quo and push boundaries. She is recognized for her talents globally, with over four million streams on her Spotify from listeners all over the world and having earned a nomination for Australian Women In Music's "Best Development Artist" in 2019.

A line-up of talented local performers will kick off early to warm the stage and audience, each bringing their unique sound and style to the stage. Singer songwriter Savannah Jones and indie pop rock band Hugo and the Hive will ensure an unforgettable experience for all attendees.

The Space Girls Festival is dedicated to fostering a space where female empowerment and LGBTIQ+ visibility are at the forefront. OUTER SPACE aims to celebrate the rich diversity within our community, providing a platform for voices that often go unheard and creating an environment where everyone feels seen and valued. The event will highlight the importance of inclusion and the strength found in our differences, making it a perfect way to celebrate Pride Month.

Headspace Gympie will be transformed into a hub of activity, with not only live music but also various stalls, interactive activities, and workshops designed to engage and inspire. Attendees can expect a welcoming atmosphere filled with creativity, support, and a shared sense of celebration.

"We are incredibly excited for OUTER SPACE in partnership with Headspace Gympie," says Cindy Vogels, Founder and Co-Director of Space Girls.

"This festival is more than just a music event; it's a celebration of who we are as a community. By spotlighting female and LGBTIQ+ artists, we hope to inspire and empower everyone who attends, reminding them of the beauty and strength in diversity."

OUTER SPACE is open to all ages and entry is free for under 25s, ensuring that everyone in the community has the opportunity to join in the celebration. Whether you're coming for the music, the sense of community, or simply to support a fantastic cause, OUTER SPACE is an event not to be missed.

This project was made possible by the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund, provided through Regional Arts Australia, administered in Queensland by Flying Arts Alliance. Thanks also to Gympie Regional Council for valued support and partnership since Space Girls Festival inception 2018.
