The Fins deliver super-charged, catchy 80s funk pop in latest single, 'Keep Your Secrets'
Sunshine Coast’s The Fins return with a brand new single, ‘Keep Your Secrets’, tackling the powerful and authentic exploration of the inner conflict we all face when pursuing our goals.
The Fins continue their run of catchy, nostalgic melodic indie-pop, following on from their previous single, ‘Fun In The Night’, and the irresistibly smooth Peacock EP, with ‘Keep Your Secrets’ digging in further into the funk and soul-tinged pop the band has developed a following for.
The new single brings infectious drum and bass sections, with a lead guitar piercing through the mix like a bolt of lightning, cutting through the sound to make a statement that demands to be heard.
The Fins know how to hone in on their funk/soul pop, and they’ve come back with this new single, ‘Keep Your Secrets’ all charged up on super spacey synths, some superb fast fingers on the bass (with added Touch Wah for some super squelchy extra funk sauce), clean, crisp drums, jangly guitars, and frontman Mitchell Burt digging deep into the 80s for those nightclub vocals. It’s when the soft touches of the bongos and the surprise horn sections, plus the arpeggio synths kick in that ‘Keep Your Secrets’ powers up into its true form. It’s the musical equivalent to a pastel pink suit with extra width shoulder pads, and ray bans - when worn right, like how The Fins do it, it’ll knock your socks off. The Fins deliver big eighties cheese in the best way possible. Eat it up.
Lyrically, The Fins explain that the new track offers a message of hope and perseverance, suggesting that with support from others and a belief in our abilities, we can overcome our inner turmoil and weather any storm.
“The song encourages listeners to trust in themselves and their own power to reach their aspirations, reminding us that even in the darkest moments, blue skies will emerge to guide us forward.” - The Fins.
The Fins knock this one out of the park. ‘Keep Your Secrets’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
