Brisbane's BRAT deliver gut punch with fuzzed out debut single, 'Empty Club'
Brisbane grunge rats, BRAT are flipping us off AND giving us all the sweaty love in their explosive debut single, ‘Empty Club’.
The first single from this three-piece kicks you square in the groin, and steals the cold sausage roll you just paid seven bucks for right out of your hands, and you won’t be mad at all about it.
‘Empty Club’ is swingin’ snot-nosed fuzz, giving all the energy of a sweaty, basement gig reeking of stained concrete, cigarette-burned corduroy couches, and amps cranked beyond breaking point. The bass is both round and fuzzy thick, the guitars have the right amount of distortion, the drums punchy, and the vocals so close to your face, you can feel the spit. Brat threaten you with a damn good time with their debut single, and with Brisbane grunge/alt legends Semantics’ Callum Robinson on production duties, by their powers combined, they’ve captured the no-fucks-given goodness of Brisbane underground alt/punk.
As the band declare, ‘Empty Club’ is best enjoyed with a beer in hand and six (or more) already in the tank. The track documents the chaotic experience of crawling through crowded streets with blurry vision, tinnitus, and the ego of a king.
Drenched in energy, youthful apathy and a ‘I don’t give a fuck’ attitude, ‘Empty Club’ is one for a hot afternoon house party, crashing a wedding, or just being a general ratbag.
Wrap your ears around BRAT’s debut single, ‘Empty Club’ which is on all streaming platforms now.
