PREMIERE - Nicholas Costello releases soulful, deep indie-rock cut 'Lightning With You'

Canberra-based singer/songwriter Nicholas Costello goes deep into his third release, ‘Lightning With You’, which is a rich, burning indie-rock cut that is draped in reminiscence and romance, and The Point is happy to premiere this new track ahead of its September 16 release.

Recorded with producer Tim McArtney (Gang of Youths, LANKS, Jarryd James, Hoodoo Gurus), the new single is the latest taste of Nicholas’ upcoming sophomore album, ‘Chronos’, and backs up a stellar year for the artist.

‘Lightning With You’ is desert-flavoured amorous deep indie-rock that has heavy doses of early 90s nostalgia tied in. From the subtly-paced drums and rich deep bass, through to the clean chiming of the guitars, and softly padded keys, everything is covered in a rich reverb which gives the illusion of wide open spaces. Nicholas’ shift between crooning baritone to falsetto in the high points gives plenty of nods to Chris Isaak’s work, and really drives home the romantic connotations of ‘Lightning With You’.

Having kicked off 2022 with the release of his single, ‘Capital Realm’, which aired on over 70 radio stations worldwide (including ABC Radio), Nicholas followed the success of that first single with second release, ‘Doubt Grows’ (which premiered on Double J and received positive coverage from online music sites and magazines)

To celebrate the release of ‘Lightning With You’, Nicholas will be launching at Staves Brewery in Sydney on October 15th.
