Amanduh tackles relationship journeys with clever songwriter-pop on debut EP, 'Pantsuit'
Bursting from the seams, Amanduh is overjoyed and excited to be releasing her debut EP ‘Pantsuit’. This EP, featuring 5 tracks, includes the edgy and bold track ‘Old Flame’ which skyrocketed Amanduh onto everyone’s radar.
This collection of work dives us into a world of relationships - those with others and yourself, while intertwining harsh truths with beautiful cinematic pop.
Produced by Kyran Daniel (G FLip, Gretta Ray) in a home studio in the outskirts of Melbourne, ‘Pantsuit’ has always been a very personal and special project to Amanduh as it touches on intimate topics and concepts. It’s a collection of songs, some 4 years old and others written right before heading into the studio.
In ‘Pantsuit’, Amanduh has pieced together an anthology of anthemic songwriter-pop that balances between edgy, catchy rock-tinged pieces such as ‘Old Flame’ and ‘Wrong’, through to the more indie-pop bounciness of EP opener, ‘Berlin’ and ‘Scared to Love’, and closing with the diva-ish title track. The 80s nostalgia runs thick throughout this release, but never to the point of cheesiness - if anything it dials up the attitude. ‘Pantsuit’ is fresh, polished, and with silky vocals from Amanduh, but damnit if she didn’t add a few handfuls of grit into the mix, just to dirty it up a little.
The collection of tracks tackles different aspects of relationship journeys, from ruminating through to ‘situationships’ and game-playing, all told through Amanduh’s expressionist and creative storytelling, while adopting familiar, retro elements into the sound of the EP.
Hard to believe this is a debut EP, as Amanduh’s storytelling is on full display with anthemic songs that sizzle and sparkle, delivering infectious pop melodies that captivate listeners. Her music promises to be a refreshing addition to the pop scene in Australia, brimming with energy and charisma.
‘Pantsuit’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
