Perth's Big Orange deliver dark, dreamy indie single, 'Love's Not Enough' and music video
Perth’s indie-rock outfit, Big Orange have released their second single for 2022, ‘Love’s Not Enough’, paired up with a gleaming music video.
‘Love’s Not Enough’ is darker alt-indie rock, that while dreamy, has a slightly menacing undertone. The fast-paced, almost frenetic beat, tied neatly with the guitar lead, while the bass remains steady gives off Mutemath vibes, particularly with the rockier middle section, that gives the listener some time to breathe. The synths add a layer of light, supporting frontman Daniel Davis’ vocals, which edge into Corgan-ish delivery towards the end of the song.
Giving some indie cred and edge to a stadium-rock ready sound, Big Orange manage this without being pompous.
Following the rapid pace of the track and its addictively relentless beat, the accompanying dreamy music video is minimalistic and on-brand as it props Big Orange on a pedestal just as this rock band deserves.
The music video directed by Re ne features the band in all of their stadium rock glory, laying down the nostalgic indie-rock riffs in the ambient lit Johnny Ma studios. Embellished by an array of dreamy camera-work magic, the band and their metallic-y reflections are captured through a hanging perspex sheet. The bands keys player, Emma Adams, states:
“That iridescent perspex was laying in the roadside collection a couple of houses down from the studio we shot at, one of the guys carried it back and hung it from the ceiling, the concept just kinda built around that. The place we shot, Johnny Ma studios, is this cool warehouse next to a funeral parlour in Perth, there's this yellow parrot that lives there and mills around all the action, you might see him in the clip, if not you'll see him in the behind the scene shots for sure."
This single follows on from the more Primal Scream-ish ‘By The Dozen’ which was released at the beginning of this year.
'Love's Not Enough' and its accompanying music video are out now; however, there is still plenty more up Big Orange's sleeve for 2022.
