PREMIERE - Slippery Gypsy slide in with deliciously dirty alt rock swagger on latest single, 'Poison Love'
North Queensland-based Alt/Rock outfit, Slippery Gypsy, hot on the heals of their previous release, ‘Stranger’, are back with their hard-hitting new single, ‘Poison Love’, which is premiering on The Point right now ahead of its March 13 release.
Hailing from country towns across Australia, Slippery Gypsy are known for their down-to-earth vibe, unfiltered songwriting, and passionate live shows. Their mix of Rock Grit, Pop sensibilities and musicianship creates a unique style driven by singer Luke’s distinct, powerful vocals.
‘Poison Love’ slides on in, slathered in a blend of Sunset Strip swagger, and the more blues-y side of 90s Seattle. The groove is deliciously dirty with an undeniable strut, while the verses lean into a jangling college-radio feel before Slippery Gypsy land the hook with a chorus that nods to the arena-ready punch of Van Halen’s Sammy Hagar era. Vocalist Luke delivers it with effortless FM-friendly confidence, pulling the track squarely into that sweet spot between grit and gloss. It’s a track that plants its flag firmly in the dirty-denim-and-whiskey corner of alternative rock — swaggering, soulful, and unapologetically cool without ever needing to shout about it.
The band digs deeper into the meaning of the latest single -
“Poison Love is about addiction in all its forms — whether that’s a relationship, a substance, or a pattern you keep running back to even when you know it’s wrecking you. It’s that space between denial and self-awareness — pretending you’re fine while quietly wondering if anyone makes it out the other side.”
Slippery Gypsy recently released their soaring single called ‘Stranger’ to wide praise. The single was aired on over 100 radio stations worldwide and received coverage from several online street press. With seven singles already released, the band is now sitting on three unreleased tracks that they believe are a cut above anything they’ve done before.
New single ‘Poison Love’ is available on all major online streaming services from March 13, but premiering right now on The Point Music News.
