Becca Hatch does deep disco dive in infectious new single, 'Blessed'
Western Sydney’s got the disco goods, with Becca Hatch unleashing a smooth, dancefloor-ready new single in ‘Blessed’, alongside an official music video via Forever Ever Records / Sony Music Entertainment Australia.
The new single is another example of what Becca Hatch is capable of sonically. Known previously for her RnB/Soul sound, Becca has been dipping her toes in the disco/dance/pop spheres, starting this year with the club-ready ‘Without You’. Produced by Melbourne-based Tentendo, ‘Blessed’ was written by Becca Hatch with fellow Australian singer-songwriters KIAN and Blush’ko.
‘Blessed’ utilises Becca’s silky RnB vocal, coating it in glitter and letting it spin around for one hell of a smooth pop disco take. Blending elements of late 90s house, with the best parts of 70s disco; the sweeping strings, the muted wah-guitar (basically Nu-Disco), it’s a full-flavoured dance cocktail that goes down easy, and gives you the warm tingles from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.
Speaking on the single Becca says “Sometimes friendships fall apart. I wrote ‘Blessed’ about counting my blessings during difficult moments in my life. It's about the support I receive from my closest friends and family, but most importantly the encouragement I've learned to give myself.”
Amplifying the message of appreciating her closest friends and family, the accompanying Matt Wilson-directed video is all about Becca showing deep love for her community.
“The music video for ‘Blessed’ is inspired and produced by some of my favourite people in the world; my community,” Becca says. “They've been both the creatives that inspire me and friends that keep me grounded. It's not that deep, it's just us being ourselves.”
In just a short span of time, Sydney artist Becca Hatch has curated a space in the Australian contemporary RnB scene that is wholly her own. The Kamilaroi/Samoan artist rose to wider attention after winning triple j Unearthed High’s Indigenous Initiative in 2017, though in the years that followed, Becca has established herself as a dynamic artist whose voice and style adds a beautiful flair to the current wave of Australian artists bringing RnB-centric music back to the fore.
Like her music, Becca’s personality captivates; audiences Australia wide have become enamoured with her and as the next chapter of music awaits, Becca Hatch is excited to get this new era started.
‘Blessed’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
