Brisbane’s Big Blue Eyes are back with their rockiest cut to date with the release of ‘New World Age’, a heavy and grooving track exploring themes of anxiety and nihilism towards the daily grind of modern living.

The brainchild of song-writer and producer Ryan Smart, this marks the first of many tracks set to release for Big Blue Eyes in 2024.

‘New World Age’ sees Big Blue Eyes still utilise the psychedelic swirl of earlier releases, but with foot firmly on the fuzz pedal. The new single shifts away from the self-romanticism of previous single, ‘Glass Eyes’, instead adding bite and bile into the sound, becoming a some-what musical middle finger to the everyday life. The slightly grungier tones, with nods to 60s notes, give hints of Australian Alt greats like Ammonia and Jebediah, while showing yet another step in Ryan Smart’s songwriting evolution.

The new single is accompanied by a music video capturing a revitalised take on the new ‘slacker’ generation directed by Tai Scott and Sam Goldsmith.

.You can catch Big Blue Eyes launch their new single with a free show at Solbar on March 22nd, with supports from 01 Thurman and Redwood Scoundrel.

‘New World Age’ is out now via all streaming platforms.
