Brisbane-based three-piece, The Phosphenes rip right into 2024 with the release of their latest track, ‘No More’; a three and a half minute blast of raw alt rock that captures the intensity of the band’s live performances.

The new single is a taste of their upcoming EP due later in the year, and follows on from their previous 6-track release, ‘Loose: The Demos’ which came out in 2022.

Rooted in alternative rock, garage rock, grunge, and post-punk influences, The Phosphenes deliver a dynamic blend of raw energy and thoughtful lyricism, with the band's sound resonating with audiences, capturing the essence of Brisbane's diverse musical spirit.

‘No More’ is sweetness for all but 5 seconds until you are slapped across the face with a wave of crunchy fuzz, and a tonne of angst, but all in good fun. The Phosphenes bring no frills punked-up grunge on this track; no gimmicks, just a whole heap of catchy, loud as fuck rock n roll, vocals on the cusp of tearing, and rhythm section ripping you a new one. It’s raw, energised, unpolished rollicking good times, and we’re all here for it.

The new single is a poignant reflection on the cyclical nature of relationships, exploring the themes of love, hate, and eventual resentment. The track serves as an anthem of empowerment, as the band members express their resolve to break free from toxic cycles and assert their boundaries.

"We're thrilled to share 'No More' with our fans," says guitarist/vocalist Reece Depasquale. "This song is deeply personal to us, and we hope it resonates with listeners who may be navigating similar experiences in their own lives.”

To celebrate the release of ‘No More’, The Phosphenes have a few shows, starting with Black Bear Lodge (Brisbane) on February 29, Tribe Clubhouse (Redcliffe) on March 1, and The Presynct (Nambour) on March 9.

‘No More’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
