Anthony Forrest (Kingfisha) returns with super slick, bouncy team-up with Laneous in 'Get there'

Brisbane/Meanjin artist Anthony Forrest has announced the release of his soothing synth-laden electro-soul single ‘Get There (feat. Laneous)’, celebrating with a run of shows in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Byron Bay.

Forrest has been a prominent figure in the Australian music scene for many years, garnering a reputation as a formidable singer and songwriter for reggae/dub act Kingfisha who won Triple J Unearthed Roots and a Queensland Music Award, touring the world extensively over a 10 year period. Forrest was recently shortlisted in the Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition for his solo work.

Easily one of the most unmistakable voices in the Australian roots scene, Anthony Forrest’s smooth as silk vocal and knack for creating ridiculously catchy dub-fused melodies returns to the fold with ‘Get There’. The bounce, bubble and flow that Kingfisha fans have been missing since their departure is back in full force with Anthony’s latest efforts, and teaming up with Laneous AND Peet Gardner doubles down on the delivery of insanely round bass, spacey synths, and incredibly tight beats.’Get There’ is perpetually super slick, dense electro/dub goodness that seeps into every pore, taking over your body with infectious swagger. Take it all in - it’s the goods.

Laneous’ tenures over the past several years have included stints with Laneous & The Family Yah, Kafka, Kooii and Vulture St Tape Gang, and has also featured on tracks for a myriad of artists including Thundamentals & Sampology. Laneous will also be appearing at the live shows.

Speaking about the new single, Forrest said “Get There came together when I was at a low point but always had faith that I could push on through and turn things around… essentially it’s a song about hope and showing what I can do with actions and not words.”

Collaborating with West End producer Peet Gardner (So Soap Studios) the two artists have mixed their talents, combining Peet’s cutting edge production and Anthony's compositions to create their distinctive Soul/Electro sound.

Catch Anthony Forrest, with Laneous at Eudlo Hall on Friday July 21, thanks to Peace Run Agency, as well as It’s Still a Secret (Brisbane) on July 22, and finally Kulcha Jam (Byron Bay) on July 28. All ticketing info can be found here.
