The Songwriting Prize 2025 returns for Year 10
For the past 9 years Listen Up Music, an award-winning mental health music charity, has hosted The Songwriting Prize; Australia’s largest live performance songwriting competition. This year they are back for Year 10, with eleven regional Semi Final events, and a prize pool of over $45,000.
Listen Up Music invites songwriters from all across Australia to write an original song, or submit an existing one, to match this years’ theme of ‘Growth’. The song must have been written, or recorded, within the preceding 12 months and can be a released or unreleased track. Recording and production quality are not taken into consideration as the judging is done solely on the songwriting.
Semi Finals take place across the country during Aug-Oct, and this year that includes events in Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra, Darwin, Gold Coast, Hobart, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth and Sydney. The artists with the highest judging scores from the regional Semi Finals are then selected to take their place at the Grand Final, to perform their song once again, with one winner taking out the coveted spot of The Songwriting Prize Overall Winner.
Entries are open this year until Friday 30th May 2025, with the preliminary judging, Semi Finals, Grand Final, and a few special surprises, all to come!
