paris404 debuts with seriously slick neo-soul disco rump shaker in 'bad as u'
Melbourne’s stunningly evocative paris404 shows off plenty of versatility as a musician with her slick debut single ‘bad as u’, which is out now. What originated as a more sentimental track eventually morphed into something more playful and bouncy in both structure and thematics.
‘bad as u’ is brimful of neo-soul-fused disco bad assery; a certified slick rump shaker that channels every inch of your inner sassiness, and lets it seep from every single pore on your body. paris404 brings such a silky smooth vocal take, yet you know deep down there’s a lot of power there that’s being restrained to suit the late night fever tone in ‘bad as u’. Seriously velvety as, while pumping that big bassy bounce.
Beyond her studio work, paris404 has been making a significant impact on Melbourne’s music scene. She has delivered captivating live performances including sharing the stage with Grammy Award-winning rapper Coolio (USA) at a sold-out Festival Hall.
The artist recently teamed up with producer Hitch for her first features on the electronic-house track ‘Heat’, receiving acclaim from Triple J Unearthed. This has further solidified her presence in the music scene and showcased her versatility as a vocalist.
Speaking on the forthcoming single, the musician explains: “I started writing ‘bad as u’ when I was going through a series of ups and downs with someone I really cared about; but when we got into the studio and started to play with the production, melodies and lyrics, we realised we could turn the track into something more lighthearted and flirtatious.”
paris404 is poised for a monumental year in 2023, with her sights set not only on the release of her debut single and its (soon to come) accompanying video, ‘bad as u’, but also on introducing a succession of singles that will spotlight the captivating charm that characterises her entire musical endeavour.
‘bad as u’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
