Woodes returns with explosive cinematic alt-pop single, 'Don't Look Back', and announces new EP
Cinematic Australian singer-songwriter, Woodes explodes back onto the scene with the percussive-driven anthem, ‘Don’t Look Back’, which is backed by the announcement of her new EP, ‘Hibernation’ (due on October 13th via Nettwerk).
Pushed by a shuffling beat punctuated by cello, Woodes keeps her head high and urges listeners ‘Don’t look back. You can never look back.’
This is the first single following the release of her EP, ‘Kingdom Come’, a six-song exploration of nostalgia and the journey of growth through alternative pop soundscapes. If ‘Kingdom Come’ reflects the experiences of Elle Graham, the artist behind Woodes, then ‘Hibernation’ amplifies its delivery in the story of the character of Woodes. Fans will be able to hear the new songs live with the announcement of November Australian tour dates in Melbourne and Sydney.
‘Don’t Look Back’ is powerful, primal progressive alt pop that absolutely soars. The track breathes in mystery and exhales intensity, with Woodes’ enchanting, at times haunting vocal take absolutely owning the soundscape. ‘Don’t Look Back’ is a massive song, despite clocking in under 3 minutes, and brilliantly hooks you in, making you beg for the release of the ‘Hibernation’ EP.
Elle shares, “She’s coming out of Hibernation into this strong version of herself…I’m putting Woodes in a fantasy utopia...I see the trailer for the Woodes movie in my head...It’s a grand vision of the legends before us and going after your dream. It’s gritty and immediate.”
Currently, Elle is living between Los Angeles and Melbourne, focusing in on the cinematic world expansion of Woodes.
‘Don’t Look Back’ is out now on all streaming platforms, and follow Woodes to get access to the new EP, ‘Hibernation’ when it lands in mid October.
