Exclusive BTS content - Sydney's Dande and the Lion give us an inside look at the making of their insanely catchy new single, 'Children of the Hour'.
Sydney indie/pop-rock four-piece, Dande and the Lion continue to add to their impressive catalogue of infectiously hooky works with their latest single, ‘Children of the Hour’.
‘Children of the Hour’ is a single that highlights the dynamic that Dande and The Lion have bolstered across a strong run of releases, stretching back to debut single ‘Wasting Time’ back in 2019. The band’s musicianship manifests here; nuanced and open lyricism fusing together with bright, rich instrumentation. It’s a gorgeous step forward for the band, as they anticipate a busy 2023.
Dande and the Lion have honed in on their knack to carve out danceable indie rock, chockfull of emotion and attitude. The dual vocals of Abbey Gardner and Natassa Zoe, always blending and complementing, and knowing to lift in just the right moments. ‘Children of the Hour’ comes across like a steady mix of The 1975 and Chvrches; this band needs to be playing bigger festival stages… stat.
Dande and the Lion have given us exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpses at the making of ‘Children of the Hour’, which is out now on all streaming platforms.
This band enjoys a good read and often swap books with each other. Here’s Abbey reading outloud the dramatic last paragraph of a chapter to Nick in our downtime.
Like minds; Director Kathy and Videographer Simon reviewing the previous shot in the backlot of Chippendale. Kathy had a clear visual of what she wanted portrayed and Simon understood how the shot would be achieved. This was the first time they had worked together and yet flowed like they had been working together for years.
The beach we associate with childhood, innocence, and playfulness which was the perfect backdrop for the characters to hang out and enjoy the moment. Here Kathy and Simon had to battle with the lighting and the overcast day threatening to rain, yet managed to capture the scenes which we think came out perfectly.
Here’s our Nick looking quietly happy and content at the recording of Children of the Hour; his bass line laid at Xavier Dunn Production Studios.
Another cool thing about working with Xavier is that he and his partner have some very cool cats. Here’s Tass appearing to get all the cuddles from Xavier’s child but really he is establishing dominance and territory takeover.
