Melbourne-via-Los Angeles artist, Dolly Dagger drops her fiery debut EP, ‘Nightmare’, filled with gorgeous vocal melodies blended with crushing rock guitar riffs, bringing to life Dolly’s deepest and intense inner workings.

Named after the iconic Hendrix song, Dolly Dagger has crafted four tracks that sear themselves deep inside your brain, undeniably powerful, and showcasing Dolly’s true talent and real rock’n’roll grit oozing from every track on ‘Nightmare’.

Dolly Dagger’s ‘Nightmare’ EP is full post-grunge, filtered through nu-metal tones, and bottled in rock n roll. Despite the thick guitar riffage (courtesy of cowriter Jesse McInturff), there’s a hell of a lot of pop sensibility underlaying the tracks on ‘Nightmare’. From the catchy and super-fuzzed opener, ‘SICK’ (with its borderline hooky nursery rhyme-style chorus), through to the title track covered in glitchy synths and rock swagger, to the darker, down-tuned punk stylings of ‘Feel Like Fiction’, and ending with the snaking, sweetly sinister ‘Swerve’, Dolly Dagger explores and processes her inner demons and brings forth a hefty slab of cathartic, hooky, heavy alt rock.

“This is my survival. It always has been and will likely stay that way,” says Dolly. “Art is the vessel to process our emotions and then release them. I had a therapist once tell me I had a blockage. She said I needed to scream in order to release it, so for a while I’ve looked at singing and thrashing around with a guitar as therapy.”

Dolly proves herself an expert at weaving her struggles into empowering rock anthems. Emotional impact is cranked up high throughout these tracks, with poetic lyrics that effortlessly lace themes of perception, reshaping life for the better, and above all else, perseverance through the trials and tribulations of being in a creative profession.

She has also produced, directed and edited her newest music video for the track “SICK” to be released alongside the EP, featuring footage of Dolly’s captivating live performance along with cowriter and guitarist Jesse McInturff.

“This EP defines what we’re working towards,” says Dolly. “We’re really excited for what’s next.”

‘Nightmare’ EP is now available on all streaming platforms.
