Kicked-In Bickie Tin unleash ridiculously catchy indie-punk/alt-rock anthem in 'Stay'
Hailing from rural North-West NSW, Kicked-In Bickie Tin have unleashed a ridiculously catchy indie-punk/alt rock anthem in ‘Stay’, and have been touring the bejesus out of the new track.
Formed hundreds of kilometres from their nearest music venue, the dynamic trio draw inspiration from the likes of Skeggs, Hockey Dad and Violent Soho, with their unique fusion of gritty garage rock sounds mixed with introspective indie-rock elements creating a signature style, filled with infectious melodies, authentic lyricism, and rip-roaring energy.
‘Stay’ touches on the universal struggle of finding true purpose amidst external expectations, all wrapped up in a healthy blend of indie and garage-rocks sounds.
In the words of Gamilaraay front-man Shaun Mills, “‘Stay’ is about not being sure about what to do in life, and taking your time to figure it out.”
From the warped tape-style intro to its thickened-out angular guitars and drums to the front, ‘Stay’ is quirky, insanely catchy indie-punk meets alt-garage, whose strength lies in its simplicity and sing-songy verses. Kicked-In Bickie Tin, who not only boast one of the most Australian band names around, also have nailed the sounds of youthful uncertainty, with tracks like ‘Stay’ just begging to be sung back at the band from the dingiest dive bar, to festival stages. KIBT bring some Beddy Rays meets Violent Soho with this insanely fun track.
Building upon the groundwork laid by their prior tracks, “Stay” effortlessly extends the band’s exploration of relatable themes, forging a deep connection to the experiences of growing up in a working-class regional small town. To celebrate the release of ‘Stay’, Kicked-In Bickie Tin have headed out on their ‘Still Kickin’ Tour’ tour playing a handful of shows along the east-coast of Australia, with two dates remaining - October 14th at Tomcat in Brisbane, and October 28th at Gold Coast’s Vinnies Dive Bar (supporting Salty Season).
Kicked-In Bickie Tin burst onto the scene with their debut single, ‘Floor,’ which was met with widespread acclaim, thanks to its anthemic singalong chorus. Their follow-up single, ‘High Again,’ turned heads and achieved significant recognition, earning a debut spot on triple j’s Home and Hosed. The track also found a place in Apple Music’s prestigious ‘New Music Daily’ and ‘Good Times’ playlists, as well as Spotify’s ‘Original Story Tellers’ editorial playlists.
The success of ‘High Again’ marked a turning point, propelling Kicked-In Bickie Tin from their DIY hometown shows to a full-scale tour of the East Coast, where they captivated audiences with their electrifying performances.
‘Stay” is set to further solidify the band’s place in the Australian indie/alt-rock landscape, offering impactful music delivered with true authenticity while showing no signs of slowing down. Expect another single leading up to their debut EP entitled “Beauty of Friends”.
‘Stay’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
