Brisbane's Anna's Apprentice release epic, captivating debut single, 'I Remember'
Brisbane’s newest indie rock trio, Anna’s Apprentice have unleashed an unabashedly epic debut single in ‘I Remember’.
It’s a potently poetic hometown anthem that fuses euphoric melodic textures with reminiscence to create a time capsule of youthful escapism.
‘I Remember’ captures a lot of that Australian alt-rock/indie vibe, channelling sounds of British India and Motor Ace, but whether realise it or not, they’ve managed to sneak in the blend of poetry and desert indie that defined that of early The Killers. Anna’s Apprentice have managed to craft some clever songwriter’s rock in ‘I Remember’, and could easily be a staple on commercial FM radio, if it falls on the right ears. It has all the ingredients, plenty of guitars, drums that aren’t over-cooked with production, big hooks, and strong, prominent male vocals.
Forged from the creative embers of numerous local outfits that graced Brisbane stages in the last decade (such as Belrose, Foxymoron, and Atripwithsid), Anna’s Apprentice are a melding of folk, punk and rock, while showing an organic and refined tonality within the indie rock genre.
Frontman, and songwriter Jayden Lynch explores what is behind the song.
"The inspiration comes from the naivety of youth, wanting to escape the place you’re from, only to realise that it’s not all that bad".
The first single from a forthcoming EP, Anna's Apprentice entices fans of Teenage Dads, British India and Death by Denim, by using lucid lyricism and a guitar fuelled atmosphere to paint a picture of a moment in time.
