Aus nu-metal legends, Bison return and bring the bounce with new EP, 'Perfect Mistakes'
Break out the wallet chains, baggy pants and ALL the angst, folks. We’re heading back to 2001, and we’re all for it. BISON were among the kings of the ‘first-wave’ of nu-metal in Australia (in the same company as Sunk Loto, Superheist, Mammal etc), and they have returned to finish what they started.
With a fairly recent re-emergence of the nu-metal sound, in particular in Australia with the likes of Ocean Grove bringing it back, Bison have released the EP, ‘Perfect Mistakes’, teaming up with Ocean Grove’s Sam Bassal in the producer’s chair.
This release takes the roots originally laid with the first nu-metal sounds, and kicks its arse fully into 2021 with such a thicker, heavier tone, the guitars more aggressive, and the production capturing the intense energy this five-piece delivers.
‘Perfect Mistakes’ fills the gap for those that crave something slightly heavier than the last wave of heavy grunge, but tend to shy away from the more intense modern metal acts. It balances the aggression, bounce and hooky choruses without coming across as forced.
Bison, formed in Melbourne in 1997, established itself within the Melbourne heavy music scene, touring and sharing stages with (hed) PE (USA), Hoobastank (USA), The White Stripes (USA), Cog, Karnivool, Sunk Lots, Grinspoon, Superheist, The Butterfly Effect, 28 Days and more.
