NEW RELEASE - It's Cool To Cry Thanks To New Alt-Pop Artist, Cry Baby

Turning the time-old insult on its head, Sunshine Coast alt-pop artist, Cry Baby is wearing her emotionality as a badge of honour and makes you feel like you can too with her self-titled debut single, Cry Baby, out today (28 August).

Cutting her teeth busking in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, Cry Baby sure knows how to turn a sad song into a cool bop with catchy lyrics, gripping vocals and punchy production.

“This first song introduces who I am. Once upon a time, being called a ‘cry baby’ used to break me. It made me feel weak, but now I’ve turned it into my superpower,” said Rebekah Winnett on claiming her new moniker.

“I don’t want anyone else to be held back because they’re sensitive or emotional. We shouldn’t see feelings as flaws, but as badges of honour. No one should ever have to apologise for being connected with their emotions and for essentially being human.”

Produced by brother, Judah Winnett, this is the first taste from Cry Baby’s breakup concept EP, which is due for release in 2021 and features collaborations with fellow Queensland talents Christian Patey, AYLA and Jye Pouzet (Lunar Phase).

“Everyone’s been through heartbreak and ridden those waves of emotion. I hope you can listen to my songs on the kitchen floor with a glass of wine, or they get you up dancing with your friends, or better still, both!”

Taking you on a journey through the good, the bad and the ugly sides of heartbreak, Cry Baby’s compelling brand of alternative pop will make you want to cry, dance - and most importantly - not care who's watching.
