Melbourne's King River Rising kick off 2020 with East Coast Tour * new single, 'Pull You Closer' - playing QLD Ska & Reggae Fest Jan 12

Having spent the past three years honing their craft in Melbourne, King River Rising have taken their summer sounds all over Australia, from playing outback pubs, starlit bush festivals, gigs by the beach and playing sell out shows in Tasmania, Byron Bay, Sunshine Coast, Adelaide, and the Blue Mountains. Following up on the release of their last single "Beyond The Blue", King River Rising are set to release the second single "Pull You Closer" from their forthcoming EP due in March.

An emotional rollercoaster, "Pull You Closer" is a song full of introspective honesty and brutal confession, exploring what it means to embrace belonging rather than push it away. Written at a fragile point in a lifetime’s journey - somewhere between anxiety and acceptance – "Pull You Closer" pays homage to an unexpected lover and teacher. Songwriter Ward Hancock explains “writing this song was all about being sincere, I needed to hear it coming from myself. Music to me is all about healing, learning and seeing a situation from a different angle – often over time, developing perspectives, at times moving away from others.”

Intricately mixed by producer Ian Pritchett of Noisegate Studios (Angus & Julia Stone, The Beautiful Girls, Bootleg Rascal), the essence of "Pull You Closer" is beautifully captured in four and a half minutes. In a journey that develops maturely and with purpose, the listener is treated to rich backing vocals and Latin percussion, resulting in a sound that is stripped back, but full of depth and character. A culmination of love, loss and longing; the listener is transported to the pinnacle of the song. With a raw tone and honest lyrics, the song is wrapped up by singer Ward Hancock’s confessions and regrets; loud and clear for anyone willing to listen.
