Sunshine Coast Music News, April 3 2018
Phwoar, another Easter, and another Ocean Street World Festival done for a year. A massive congrats to the OSWF team for another fantastic festival, and ALSO, a special happy birthday to Solbar - celebrating 7 years in its home on Ocean Street.
Some definitely epic live music coming your way this week, with visits from grindcore legends, King Parrot (Friday night at Solbar), supremely talented & entertaining Steve Poltz (from the US, doing two shows at The Bison Bar - Friday night has sold out, but Saturday's matinee show is still available as far as we know), the huge-voiced Thando (from Melbourne, playing the Imperial Hotel Eumundi on Satuday, with support from Sky Eater), Willow Beats playing Solbar on Saturday night, Peregian Originals featuring Madtones, Black Rabbit George, Michael Dunstan, and Anna & Jordan on Sunday, and the guys from Fight Ibis doing a special DJ slot at Solbar on Sunday.
Also, Eudlo Music Nights over April 7 & 8 at Wominjeka Park, featuring performances from The Calptomaniacs, Van Larkins, Ian B Macleod and much more. For more info on THIS event, head to eudlomusicnights.com.au.
Not bad... not bad at all.
Coming up next week, expect big shows from Kallidad (teaming up with The Moonsets), and Pandamic (Rockhampton rockers, teaming up with Walken, Beddy Rays, and Muules).
News spreading in the past week of Big Pineapple Music Festival now officially SOLD OUT. BPMF is definitely recognised as one of the new breed of must-go-to festivals in Australia. Nice work.
Sticking with festivals, the smaller, more locals-focused Groovestock has announced its return as well, with the mini-fest being held at the Palmwoods Hall on June 9, and featuring Hobo Magic, Pandamic, The Royal Artillery, Zong, The Unknowns, Machine Machine, Not To Regret, Belligerent Goat, Moose Knuckle, Muules, No Intelligent Life and Absolem. Holy. Crap. That's a lot in one venue, in one day.
