Sunshine Coast Music News, March 6 2018
Welcome to the new look The Point website. Refreshed, revised, streamlined. There's still a few niggly bits and pieces to sort through, but the rest looks great. Big shout out to Vague Hellion for the revamp.
We've also started a Facebook group, under The Point Music News Gig Guide, where musicians, venues, promoters, etc can add their event, to try and get past the new algorithm that Facebook has set up. You can join that group here.
This week sees a big chunk of music heading our way, with High Tropics celebrating their single at Solbar on Friday night, Muules launching their debut single at The Basement on Friday night (with No Intelligent Life, and Absolem), Coolio (yes, Coolio) playing The Helm on Friday night, a big blues night at Solbar on Saturday night, Yeah Don't Care launching their album at The Time Machine on Saturday, The Bison Bar hosting Milton Man Gogh on Saturday, plus the Noosa Festival of Surfing going all weekend, with acts like Dosed, Los Laws, Elegant Shiva, The Unknowns and more all up in Noosa Town, and pending on the weather, Peregian Originals with Dub Zoo and more on Sunday, and a cool little sesh at Woombye Pub with Banned FTC, Mantis Empire, Spew'n, and Roustabout from 2pm. Told YOU it was a big weekend!
Speaking of Spew'n, we've noticed that they're beginning to wrap up recording of their album, so we're keen to see what's going to come out of these twisted musical freaks.
We've also heard rumours of a full-length album coming out of Whiskey & Me in due time.
Those Fight Ibis dudes are rolling around the country side on a pretty hefty tour, and well, whattaya know, they've just dropped a new single in 'Woolly Bop'. These guys have been edging deeper and deeper into full psych rock territory, and they've gone complete Gizzard with this track. Listen to it here.
But for new releases already out, wrap your eardrums around the following -
Muules - 'Butch Teeth' (for lovers for alt-rock/grunge, done a little differently)
Blend - 'Freak Out' (big chunk of Aussie punk rock for you)
Dan Horne - 'Holy Man' (blues roots dude can't go wrong)
The Dennis Sisters - 'Find Me' (The talented ladies are killing it in the J Unearthed charts at the moment)
Also, be sure to follow our Spotify playlist (for those that use the streaming service), as we have plenty of local choons on there, and regularly updating.
